Modern transmissions are much more technologically advanced than their predecessors with hundreds of moving and stationary components. As a vehicle ages, it is quite normal for the transmission to encounter some wear and tear. To add longevity to the tranny, fluid and maintenance at proper intervals (usually around every 30,000 miles) are recommended by the manufacturers.
When a transmission does wear out, usually the most cost-effective way to get it back like-new condition is to have it reconditioned or rebuilt. It is possible to repair the transmission to near original equipment status giving your vehicle renewed value and more years of useful service and giving you peace of mind. Again, we offer a FREE Initial Performance Check & FREE towing with any major repair.
Some transmission repairs require only an adjustment that can be made without removing the entire transmission. Newer model cars that are computer controlled can sometimes have faulty sensors or bad connections. Once the source of the problem is identified it can be replaced or repaired. Older automobiles that are experiencing transmission problems may require adjustments to parts such as bands or throttle cables.
Transmission Services
If your Free Transmission Performance Check shows that your vehicle’s transmission is need of major repairs, a transmission rebuild may be not only necessary but in your best interest for both cost and operational efficiency. The best way to repair these units is to remove the transmission from the vehicle, disassemble it then inspected to determine the extent of any damage. We replace the “soft parts,” those that are made to wear out under normal or severe operating conditions. We also inspect and replace, only if necessary, any “hard parts,” that may have been damaged as the transmission wore out. Often times, “hard parts” or those parts that do not usually wear out only require a deep cleaning while others, those that generally do wear out over time, may require replacement.
The parts are then reassembled, adjusted and tested for proper operation. The transmission is reinstalled with final adjustments being made after reinstallation. The vehicle is test driven and given a final recheck to ensure all seals are good, and that it is operating as it should. All Mr. Transmission shops offer a minimum nationwide, 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty.
Clutch Repair
A clutch in a standard (manual) transmission scenario helps transfer the power from the motor through the transmission and eventually to the wheels to propel the vehicle. Like any part of the vehicle’s drive train system, the clutch has components that can and do wear out over time. The clutch can be repaired and serviced and brought back to near new operationally by a qualified service technician. More about Clutch Repair and Clutch Repair Costs click here.
Differentials / Drivetrain Repairs
The final gearbox before the car or truck’s wheels and axles is called the differential; Depending on whether the vehicle is a front, rear or all-wheel drive. The differential/drivetrain essentially supplies power to the wheels from the transmission or transaxle and regulates the speed of the wheels as the vehicle turns.
Transfer Cases
Transfer Cases — as a vehicle ages, it is normal for the transfer case to undergo wear and tear. Over time, the fluid becomes thinner and contaminated, less effectively lubricating the transfer case. (More about Transfer Case Repair here)
